Tesco home deliveries are suffering some problems today due to a technical problem. Apparently the problem is affecting the picking of orders in stores and perhaps as much as 10% of orders are experiencing problems. The deliveries are then being cancelled.
There have been numerous complaints on Twitter with some shoppers saying that they have been unable to reschedule the delivery slots.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “We’re currently experiencing an IT issue which is affecting some grocery home shopping orders. We’re working hard to fix this problem and apologise to customers for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Apparently all shoppers who have experienced a cancellation are advised to reschedule and will receive a £10 voucher as a gesture of goodwill.
As with any company experiencing technical troubles, it’s how they’re dealt with that counts. Things will inevitably go wrong but making good on problems is the proof of the pudding. And in the case it looks like Tesco has been communicative on social and offered a sweetener. But many of the shoppers only discovered that today’s deliveries had been cancelled once they simply didn’t arrive. It’s understood that any orders made today will not be affected but there could still be problems with orders made in the past few days.
