Nothing moves without the right data and increasing global regulation is providing huge challenges to those involved in cross-border eCommerce trade.
With Brexit, EU VAT reform, ICS2 and the US STOP Act, complete and valid product has never been more essential.
Non-compliant data will lead to parcels being delayed, returned or destroyed by Customs. This will lead to further costs to businesses which will have to facilitate returns and storage units, while giving the customer a poor experience as they face delays and extra fees.
Hurricane has developed 3 solutions to meet the needs of eCommerce platforms, retailers, marketplaces, postal operators and carriers.
Our solutions are designed to improve the customer experience and compliancy of a business, reduce the friction points of cross-border eCommerce and provide businesses with an engine for growth and the ability to enhance your cross-border offering.
Bluestone is our deep-learning AI that drives our auto classification function.
With over 100 billion lines of English text read and understood, Bluestone was built to understand detailed product language and nuances to identify descriptions and match them against the most appropriate customs commodity description and subsequent HS6 code.
Confirmed classifications are constantly fed back into the system to improve the accuracy of Bluestone and future classifications.
Aura was developed to help improve data and compliancy to enhance any business’s value offering and grow their revenues.
Data Enhancement – On a consignment by consignment basis our system checks the match between the HS6 code and/or the product description provided
Duty and Tax Calculations – Hurricane’s solutions provide real-time calculation of Duty and Taxes applied by customs in the country where the cross-border e-shopper resides.
Prohibited and Restricted Goods Screening – Certain goods can only be imported alongside special licences or permissions. Hurricane provides feedback of prohibited and restricted codes for which a narrative is also available, keeping you compliant.
Denied Party Screening – The responsibility falls upon any party involved in a transaction – including the seller, broker and delivery company – to screen for Denied Parties. We provide the real-time identification of persons or entities with whom it is not permitted to engage in certain transactions such as sending products or goods.
The 3 critical cross-border functions (duty and tax calculations, prohibited and restricted goods screening and denied party screening) can all happen in a single call during the customer journey on a site with the data presented back in real time.
Zephyr allows the efficient checking and completion of cross-border shipment pre-advice data submitted to Postal Authorities by customers (retailers/marketplaces).
We liken the Zephyr API to the tributaries of a river, validating and assigning consignment data to provide the necessary customs clearance information, allowing the bulk of items to flow into the river in rapid time.
There are 3 functions within Zephyr:
Quick Check – An API that allows bulk clearance facilities to check the accuracy of consignment data. It can also provide missing information.
Quick HS6 – Provides a most likely or suitable HS6 code based on the description provided. Alternatively, it generates a ‘most likely’ or ‘suitable’ HS6 if only a description is provided or the HS6 is invalid.
Quick 10-digit – This function checks that the HS6 and description are valid, providing a status code if they are not. It also provides the most likely or suitable 10-digit import and export code from the source and destination country, if the countries are provided.
