This increased access to free tests will enable workers and their families to test at no cost.
Every U.S. household will be able to order free COVID-19 tests from www.covidtests.gov. This will enable more American’s to get tested for free if they need to do so including the hardest-hit and highest-risk communities. There will also be a phone line launched to assist those who cannot get online to order.
To ensure everyone has access to the free tests, each resident is limited to 4 tests. The USPS will be delivering the tests to homes across the nation which aim to ship within 7-12 days after ordering.
Additional testing incentives
- From the 15th of January private health insurers were required to cover the cost of at least 8 at-home COVID-19 tests per person per month.
- 10 million more tests will be made available to schools per month for students and staff members.
- The administration has set up additional federal free testing sites and has increased the number of pharmacies participating in the federal testing program.
