Exciting news spotted by our resident eBay Anorak, Jane Bell, eBay Express Delivery is now a search option and for the first time on the marketplace you can narrow your search results to only see items that will arrive rapidly when you’re in a hurry.
Currently I’m only seeing this option on the App, eBay Express Delivery doesn’t seem to have made it onto the desktop site for all just yet, but it’ll probably arrive there soon too.
Now many will see this as a needless tinkering with the site, but for me it’s something that I’ve wanted for well over a decade. Often, I don’t really care how long it will take something to arrive, but Christmas is coming and for those doing a last minute bit of Christmas shopping it’s a life saver to be able to find sellers that can ship immediately. Plus, there are times throughout the year when you really need something quickly and so being able to select eBay Express Delivery brings the marketplace into the 21st century and will keep me shopping on eBay rather than switching to an alternative site.
What this means for you as a seller is that for the first time you’ll want to have an Express Delivery option. Most results we are seeing offer free next-day, 2-day or 3-day delivery, so this looks like the same standard as the old Fast ‘n Free postage – not always particularly quick but easy to scroll through search results to find the items that can be delivered the next day. What is critical is that on one search we tried there were 306 items listed but filtering for Express Delivery cut this down to just 54 results.
If you have a load of competition from Chinese sellers with slow shipping, you can rejoice as this new search feature will cut them out of search results for anyone looking for speedy delivery. Selecting Item Location as UK just doesn’t do the trick but as soon as you demand an Express Delivery they’re gone. Happy days for buyers that insist on only shopping from sellers with stock genuinely in the UK.

This has been a decade in the making. Someone must have woken up, seen it was 2021 and thought it was time to update.

They made ‘next day delivery’ a requirement for business sellers but never made it a selectable option.
Still, never mind. It’s only taken them what, 10 years ?
