eBay personalisation feature – Pegs & Pearls

By Chris Dawson August 18, 2021 - 11:17 am

In March this year, a new personalisation feature was added to eBay, making it easier to offer services from adding a name or initial to an item, to printing an image on a product. eBay’s new tool and offers makes it easier and cheaper for sellers to support personalisation requests, while helping shoppers to add a personal touch to their purchases and this week we’ll be looking at some of the sellers already using the personalisation feature and today we look at Pegs & Pearls.

In 2020 eBay UK recorded over 600 searches a day for ‘personalised’ items, with personalised mugs and glasses some of the most sought after customised and engraved products, with searches up 111% and 113%.

Victoria Eagle set up her business on eBay in 2012, when she started designing her own wedding invitations. As a new mother suffering from post-natal depression, Victoria was also struggling with unemployment. In January 2013, after a slow start, the business took off with Victoria making £8,000 that month alone. It has since become Victoria’s full-time job.

“With most weddings and parties off the cards in 2020, the events industry ground to a halt – which of course meant personalised invitations took a hit too. Fortunately, now we’re out of lockdown, I’ve seen a surge in sales, and thankfully with eBay’s new personalisation tool, I can manage the boom in business much easier. The reduced fees also provide an essential boost for smaller businesses like mine that are on the road to recovery.

I’ve got big plans for 2022, so once I’ve made my way through the staggering volume of orders, I’ll turn my attention to the big trends we’re likely to see in interior design next year, as this will have an impact on the design of my next eBay range.”
