Mandated Item Specifics deadline for Parts & Accessories sellers

By Chris Dawson July 6, 2021 - 12:54 pm

Ecommerce experts Optiseller are urging parts & accessories sellers on eBay to get ready for the Mandated Item Specifics deadline which arrives on the 12th of July 2021 – that’s less than a week away.

There are 133 affected categories for UK sellers in the parts & accessories vertical, including Apparel, Protective Gear & Merchandise, Car & Truck Parts Solenoids, and RV, Trailer & Camper Parts & Accessories.

Here is a sample of the attributes impacted by the 12th of July Mandated Item Specifics deadline, that could potentially affect your listings:

  • Aspect Ratio
  • Bolt Pattern
  • Brand
  • Colour
  • Compatible Mattress Size
  • Department
  • Fabric Material
  • Frame Colour

You can see all 25 Item Specifics in an Optiseller blog post.

eBay have funded Optiseller’s Aspect Finder+ tool through to the September. Previously, the Aspect Finder+ was available courtesy of eBay until the end of June, but in an announced extension it’s now free through to the 30th of September. If you’re not ready for the Item Specifics deadline then this tool could be your life-saver!

“eBay mandate changes are rolled out a few times a year based on trends in customer’s searches and filters. So, while these changes may seem like a pain, they can be good news for your store and provide an opportunity for you to get ahead of competitors who ignore the changes.

With such a mammoth task on your hands, and the necessity to get it right, Aspect Finder+ will be the tool you need to do it quickly and accurately. The handy Buyer Demand Indicator is an additional feature on the Aspect Finder+ tool. The indicator provides you with a rating for Item specifics that buyers are regularly using to filter down their searches. Item Specifics are given a rating of 1-5 stars. This data can help you go beyond what is required, as although something isn’t currently required, it may be worth your while populating them based on the buyer demand rating.”
