eBay for Change video diary: Miss Macaroon

By Chris Dawson July 12, 2021 - 8:30 am

In today’s fifth eBay for Change video diary, we meet Rosie Ginday, founder of Miss Macaroon who make and sell delicious French macaroons. They reinvest 100% of their profits into providing career opportunities for long-term unemployed young people. This is achieved through the Macaroons that Make a Difference training courses, which help young people to build their skillset and confidence so that they are better prepared to enter the professional workplace.

We will be following ten social enterprises in total: six from the eBay for Change side of the programme (partnering with Social Enterprise UK and the World Fair Trade Organization) and four from the ecommerce start-up side of the programme (partnering with UnLtd).

Miss Macaroon train small groups of individuals aged 18 to 35 with tailored ten week courses to address their personal barriers to employment. Understanding how to be successful in a workplace, they use Miss Macaroon’s production kitchen or macaroon and Prosecco bar to practice these skills. Trainees spend five weeks in the training kitchen learning the skills to enter a professional workplace. They then graduate up to a production kitchen and learn alongside professional chefs.

Watch the video to meet Rosie and hear how this work combines her passion for premium quality food whilst helping young people to build a better future for themselves at the same time.

Miss Macaroon is part of the eBay for Change side programme, you can watch other video diaries here.

As well as making a purchase from Miss Macaroon, you can browse many other items from eBay for Change businesses on the eBay for Change hub.
