By Chris Dawson July 19, 2021 - 10:08 am

Amazon have revealed a bumper £300 million in Amazon business sales value from UK SMEs took place in 2020. If you’re not selling on Amazon Business then it’s time to seriously consider doing so to capture the growing spend from regular buyers.

Amazon business sales generated by UK-based SMEs have grown at an average of more than 50% every year since Amazon Business started in the UK in 2017 and enterprise customers in the UK have increased their spending by more than 50% year-over-year with SMEs. Enterprise customers and public sector organisations, are two of Amazon Business’ fastest-growing customer segments.

Amazon Business in the UK serves more than 50% of FTSE 100 companies, all of the 15 largest universities, 85% of the biggest cities, and over a third of the 15 largest hospitals across the UK, as well many other public sector organisations. Globally, Amazon Business has reached over $25 billion in worldwide annualised sales, more than half of which are from SMEs selling on Amazon.

“We are helping SMEs to reach business customers of all sizes, from all sectors – including automotive manufacturers, energy companies, universities, and healthcare organisations – to overcome challenges in the B2B buying process, which is traditionally complex. Sellers can leverage tailored B2B features such as Amazon Business’ quantity discounts, which gives SMEs the opportunity to sell higher value orders to large enterprises.”
– Dr. Patrick Reuther, Seller Services Director, Amazon Business Europe

If you make your listings available, you’ll find that Amazon business sales are virtually the same as sales to consumers, but with VAT invoicing, the ability to offer business discounts on single or multi-quantity purchases and flexible payment options for customers. Business customers can also sign up for Business Prime which offers fast free One-Day delivery on qualified items as well as business features for greater transparency and control.
