Linn Academy Marketplace sessions – Amazon & eBay


Naturally the two biggest UK marketplaces were focused on and so Insights on future-proofing for Amazon brands and retailers from Nimmy Mathews, Head of Amazon Global, is essential viewing. Nimmy revealed the huge opportunities that expanding on Amazon offers. These include more than 180 locations at sellers’ fingertips through the platform, accessing more than 300 million active customers worldwide.

Nimmy covered getting set up on Amazon, listing and then promotions with a particular focus on how merchants can expand in North America.


Chris Gardner, trading director for home and garden at eBay set out the eBay roadmap for 2021. Chris revealed that eBay had seen three main trends since lockdown. They included “hundreds of thousands” of new businesses joining for the first time; bigger retailers joining to develop a new route to market and the fact that moving sales onto eBay has represented a lifeline for businesses. The three core aims for 2021 for eBay will be defending the core business; being the platform of choice for sellers and cultivating life-long trusted relationships with buyers.

Fabio Esposti and Berengere Chaintreau from eBay looked at how to increase visibility with eBay marketing tools and, in another eBay focused session, Maria Simon, Global Product Marketing, ran a quickfire masterclass in eBay managed payments and item specifics. Maria ran through best practises, tools and recommendations for retailers looking to drive growth on eBay.
