Shopify Merchants can now offer Subscription options to consumers
Shopify have released subscription and post-purchase upsell apps that are fully integrated with Shopify Checkout to help merchants deliver the best shopping experience for their customers.
Merchants were technically able to offer subscriptions and post-purchase upsells using apps that aren’t fully integrated with the platform but now they’ll be able to offer them directly in Shopify Checkout making things better optimized. These new apps are also fully integrated with Shopify back-office, meaning merchants can now manage orders and use features like Shopify Payments all within the Shopify platform.

Merchants can easily download these fully integrated apps from the Shopify App Store to deliver smooth buying experiences or Subscription APIs are also available directly to all merchants if they want to build a custom solution. The apps will join over 5,300 publicly available apps in the Shopify Ecosystem and are the first of many integrated apps our partners are building in these categories in order to meet future needs of merchants and buyers.
The new apps include:
- Subscription apps: Subscriptions by ReCharge, Bold Subscriptions, PayWhirl Recurring Payments, and Ordergroove Subscriptions
- Post-purchase upsell apps: Zipify One Click Upsell,Ultimate Special Offers by Pixel Union, CartHook Post Purchase Offers, Post Purchase Promotions by Store Recon, and Superbump by The Vaan Group
