Sept 2020 eBay UK Seller Release: Signature on delivery requirements
From the 19th of October, the eBay Money Back Guarantee threshold for signature confirmation will move from item value to total order value. This makes a lot of sense as order value is probably how you consider automatically upgrading a delivery to require a signature on delivery anyway.
A signature confirmation will be required on order totals of £450 or more from the 19 of October, and will no longer be calculated based on item value. An order total includes all items purchased, taxes and postage costs.
Because signature confirmation protection under the eBay Money Back Guarantee now applies to whole orders of £450 or more rather than at an item level, items in orders previously not protected will now receive the same protection as the higher value items in that order.
Although you don’t need to take any action for this change, you may wish to consider the added costs when calculating your postage pricing. If you don’t wish to purchase signature confirmation, you risk losing an eBay Money Back Guarantee case on that order.
Bear in mind that currently due to the pandemic it’s highly unlikely that any carrier will collect a physical signature on delivery and instead will have alternative methods in place to replace an actual signature.
