Highland Hiddle is now open for business
Earlier this month we wrote about the Highland Hiddle marketplace preparing to launch to support Scottish Highlands makers of quality handmade products. It has now been announced that the marketplace is open for business and currently offering products from 30 local makers.
It’s always great to see options opening up for sellers of handmade items who need support to bring their brand online. Since Coronavirus native seller exclusive marketplaces have been opening up all over the place, displaying more traditional items of a particular society and culture. It lets consumers ‘visit’ and experience the artisan makes of another country, city or town, support their economy and businesses without needing to travel.
“Highland Hiddle brings together the region’s crafting community; from the Outer Hebrides, to Caithness; from Moray Firth to Argyll. It will provide greater visibility and a dedicated showcase for the products being made in the Scottish Highlands and Islands, which are both special and original. In particular, Highland Hiddle connects buyers who want a more sustainably made, high-quality product, with small, independent makers who would otherwise be harder to find.”
– Ms Fletcher, Kyle of Lochalsh
According to reports the region’s community of makers are embracing the marketplace and are thrilled to have an online platform where they can sell their specialized work.
“Highland Hiddle opens doors for artists and makers who are embracing the need to sell their work online.”
– Gill Thompson, artist, Isle of Lewis
