Zalando is a massive retail phenomenon in Europe. It’s particularly prominent in Germany, where they boast 95% brand recognition amongst adult shoppers.
Zalando will sell face masks to raise money for humedica
Zalando have announced that they will be selling textile face masks on their site across all their markets from today and will donate the money raised to support humedica’s coronavirus response.
Due to the coronavirus epidemic and various European governments and scientific institutions recommending the use of textile masks in public the demand for them has increased. Due to this demand, finding face masks is almost impossible. It also means there has been a global lack of vital PPE for healthcare staff. Zalando has decided to start selling face masks to provide a solution to the shortage during the crisis where it can. Thanks to the company’s network of partners and its private label production, Zalando is able to offer non-medical masks for sale from today.
“We believe that everyone should have access to a mask. Providing affordable textile masks will help people to protect others around them and preserve medical masks for health care professionals. We are very pleased to donate the profit generated from the sales of the textile masks to international efforts against the coronavirus via humedica. Thanks to its worldwide network of partners, humedica is able to support directly on site with food packages, protective equipment, education and many other measures in countries in dire need,”
– Kate Heiny, Director Sustainability at Zalando
It has been recently stated that face masks could be better at reducing the spread of COVID-19 than what was once thought however, most of the public will need to be wearing them for it to work. The masks are said to help to reduce respiratory droplet transmission, for example when coughing, and visibly strengthen awareness around social distancing. By wearing a mask, everyone can contribute to reducing the further spread of the coronavirus. The masks are sourced through Zalando’s private label production, and brands in Zalando’s wholesale business and partner program.
Good to see more Zalando content on Tamebay. Please keep it coming! – there seems to be very little substantial content / advice independent of the marketplace itself out there. Feels like something you should be doing more of for sure.
