Today is National Postal Workers Day

Today, Wednesday 29th April 2020 is National Postal Workers Day. This event is held annually to create an opportunity to promote the fantastic work posties do all year round, but it is particularly pertinent this year during this crisis. Postal Workers across the UK are working around the clock to make sure every community gets their mail.

This event will mark the ninth annual National Postal Workers Day, when the nation celebrates the hard work and dedication of hundreds of thousands of postal workers, who collect, sort and deliver letters, parcels and packets to 29 million addresses, 6 days a week in every village, Town and City in the UK.

We are living in unprecedented times but one thing always remains constant – the significant role posties play in every community in the UK – let’s celebrate this on today.

This year the public, media and politicians are being requested by the CWU Union, who the vast majority of posties belong to, to give a greater level of recognition to postal workers than ever before. Despite hugely challenging times they are keeping the country connected. From delivering essential items, to checking on the elderly and taking shopping to the most vulnerable in society, we have seen thousands of examples of local postal workers stepping up. You can thank your postie when you see them or by using #PostalWorkersDay on social media.

“Postal Workers across the Country are doing a fantastic job. It is sad that senior management have not recognised the efforts of our members but the public have. The sight of posters in windows, drinks left on doorsteps or even a simple ‘thank you’ mean the world to our members. On National Postal Workers Day this Wednesday please let your postie know how appreciated they are by thanking them or posting on social media using #PostalWorkersDay – thank you for your support”

What would we do without our posties. Come rain or shine they are out in all weather’s making sure we get our mail.
Christmas, new year, Easter, birthdays, Valentine’s and many more special occasions.
Then out of the blue we get coroner virus, everyone in lockdown and shopping on line so more parcels for posties to deal with. My dear ol dad started out as a postman and was with the post office until he retired, now I have a very good friend who is a postman and boy does he work hard.
During this particular time in lockdown we should spare a thought for our posties and show our appreciation.
They play a huge part in keeping our economy going and should be applauded and praised.
Cheers to all you posties what a great job you do.
    Julie 🙂
