Fruugo offer for new merchants impacted by Coronavirus

No primary category set

As countries across the world intensify their efforts to slow down the spread of Covid-19, a vast majority of retailers are having to close all their shops and rely on online sales only until further notice. Fruugo is doing all that it can to make it easier for retailers to reach shoppers worldwide in this time of crisis including a Fruggo offer waiving its joining fee and offering a free marketing boost to new sellers that come on board in the next month.

Fruugo offer for new merchants

Currently, sellers who are joining Fruugo would usually pay a £995 fee when they join the platform, however the marketplace has noticed a boost in sales across many of its categories and wants to help other businesses see these positive effects. In addition, Fruugo will give these new sellers additional marketing support on the site for the first month.

“Retailers are typically resilient, optimistic and used to adapting to change however the current crisis represents an unprecedented challenge, and we have recognised that we can help many feeling the effects of it. By waiving the joining fee and offering a free marketing boost for new sellers, we hope to keep more businesses trading by providing them with a new and valuable source of sales.

Retailers need to quickly adjust their business model and acquire a greater digital presence to nurture the ongoing shift in behaviour towards online shopping, which is going to accelerate as we all adjust to social distancing and developing our eommerce habits. It is our goal to assist them on that journey.”
– Tony Preedy, COO, Fruugo

Fruugo top performing categories and global expansion

With many of Fruugo’s global shoppers being in lockdown and having to get used to ‘working from home’, the platform has seen a shift in how consumers are shopping. Products linked to staying indoors – including home office equipment, games and children’s toys and home gym and fitness equipment – are seeing a particular increase in sales. Likewise sales of health and wellbeing products including vitamins and supplements are also seeing strong growth.

Fruugo has also announced its expansion into fourteen new countries. As a global marketplace, Fruugo already reaches over four billion online shoppers in more than 40 countries across the globe (China, Czechia, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Malaysia, Philippines, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirate).

“Enabling retailers to easily reach shoppers not only in their home countries but across the globe is at the heart of what we do, and doing so has never felt more important. This is a global crisis requiring global solutions, and making sure more businesses can trade online is an important part of that.”
– Håkan Thyr, CRO, Fruugo
