Amazon Netherlands launch rumoured for Q1 2020

Forbes are suggesting that the next Amazon EU site could be Amazon Netherlands, with a launch rumoured for as early as Q1 2020. Their justification for this is large consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands have confirmed a coming full platform Amazon launch in the Netherlands and that they have seen evidence that Amazon has been in talks with selected brand owners to begin setting up product listings for the Netherlands region from the 1st of November 2019.

Whether this be a full blown marketplace launch, or a launch of Amazon Pantry in the Netherlands, it shouldn’t come as a surprise as Amazon Netherlands is already a country site selling Amazon book store and Amazon Germany offers 24-hour delivery to the Netherlands on 3 million items. This means that fulfilment to the Netherlands would be easy for merchants with a Unified EU Amazon account as it would remain pretty much business as usual, just with an additional 17.8 million customers. Forbes notes that Amazon translated 2 million German listings into Dutch during 2018.

Forbes also note Amazon Netherlands job postings for Dutch-speaking Vendor managers and local advertising sales teams. However it’s possible that these will focus more on programmatic advertising for Amazon DSP rather than marketplace Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands.

A full Amazon Netherlands Marketplace launch would make sense. is the largest incumbent marketplace and whilst it attracts 10 million customers in the Netherlands and Belgium it doesn’t benefit from the millions of merchants that Amazon can bring from their existing EU marketplaces (asking the question ‘Why don’t you already sell on’).

The main reason that I don’t sell on BOL is because Linnworks doesn’t have a integration for this marketplace!!!! Which is shocking in my opinion.

    Hi Thomas,
If you are a Linnworks user you can still integrate BOL.COM, not as a native channel, but via a 3rd-party integration, see more information here:

    Hi there Thomas,
You can still connect your BOL.COM channel with Linnworks through a 3rd-party app . You can read more about it here:

Forbes are not suggesting anything at all. Forbes is just a community site, anyone can post on there. It could be correct, but I don’t like anyone using them as a trustworthy source.
