6 pre-peak approaches to boost Christmas sales on Etsy
Christmas peak season arrives long before the tree is trimmed, prompting sellers to adopt pre-peak tactics to boost sales during the increased shopping activity. Etsy are introducing a few tools designed for sellers outside of the US to bag sales this peak season.
1. Create country-specific sales
Etsy say they’re updating the sales tool so sellers can offer discounts to shoppers in specific countries. Sellers can use the tool to offer discounts to shoppers in specific countries. They can also use this tool to participate in Etsy’s sales events and promotions such as our annual Cyber sales event or to offer discounts during seasonal shopping occasions like Boxing Day in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada or Labour Day in Canada and the US.
Nearly 25% of listings that sell each day on Etsy are on sale – and that number can increase dramatically during major shopping occasions. In fact, 47% of listings purchased during Cyber Week in 2018 were on sale.
Merchants can run a Labour Day sale from the 30th of August to the 2nd of September to take advantage of this busy shopping time by discounting items.
2. Get priority search placement in the US
Sellers with a customer base residing in the US should consider setting up a US free delivery this Chrismas shopping season.
Etsy say the top spots in US search results are reserved for items that are delivered for free and shops that offer a US free delivery guarantee.
Adjusting an item’s price is one-way sellers can recover postage costs when they offer free shipping. Sellers can use Etsy’s new international pricing tool to edit the prices on multiple listings priced over $35 USD at once.
3. Deliver a great experience for customers
Merchants who have a strong domestic customer base should consider free domestic delivery. Selles can use a free delivery profile to offer free delivery to shoppers in their country.
Sellers can add their frequently used mail carriers to their delivery profiles. Etsy will combine that with merchants’ processing times to show shoppers an estimate of when their order will arrive – info that’s especially important to shoppers who are planning for a big celebration or who want to ensure their gifts arrive on time. However, this feature isn’t available in Canada.
4. Etsy Ads: The new way to maximise advertising
Etsy will soon be launching Etsy Ads, a new advertising platform designed for business owners who want to grow without all the guesswork.
With Etsy Ads, one campaign makes it easy for shoppers to discover sellers’ products on both Etsy and Google and make a purchase from their shop. Selles can set their daily budget, choose which listings to promote, and Etsy will use their data insights and expertise to identify the right places and times to show merchants’ ads.
Optimised campaign means the best results for sellers’ budget. Etsy Ads will be available soon. Sellers should keep an eye on their Shop Manager for more information.
5. Make quick connections on Etsy
It’s the personal connections and amazing products that keep Etsy shoppers coming back. Etsy recently introduced a new chat-like experience for shoppers so they can send sellers a message without leaving the page – plus, they’ll see merchants’ reply right away.
Sellers might not always be there to reply immediately so Etsy will show shoppers individual sellers’ average response time in order to let them know when to expect a reply.
Merchants can also set up an away message. By creating a library of saved snippets, sellers can save time while still providing great customer service. Etsy are making some improvements to saved snippets and will share more details soon.
6. Watch your shop grow with updated Stats
Sellers are busy during the Christmas season. That’s why Etsy are making a few updates to Stats to make it easier to understand how sellers’ business is doing, helping them spend less time digging into data, and more time doing what they love. However, all of the information merchants rely on to make decisions will still be available. Etsy promises to share more details soon on this update.
