Autumn 2019 eBay Seller Release scheduled for Wednesday 4th September

By Chris Dawson August 30, 2019 - 11:24 am

On Wednesday the 4th of September, the Autumn 2019 eBay Seller Release will be published. It’s somewhat unusual for eBay to give advance notice but this is the second eBay Seller Release where eBay have given advance notice of the publication date – last time eBay CEO Devin Wenig announced the update was coming on Twitter.

Whilst the announcement is aimed at US sellers and was posted on the eBay US Announcement Boards, we know that seller releases are timed to be published at the same time worldwide, so we would expect the UK Autumn 2019 eBay Seller Release to come at the same time as well as on all other EU eBay sites.

What to expect from the Autumn 2019 eBay Seller Release

The question sellers will have is what to expect – we know that there will be more mandatory Item Specifics imposed as eBay have already given 8 weeks notice of those coming into effect in October. We are hoping that eBay will announce that promised Item Specifics management tools will be going live.

It’s possible that there will be announcements around eBay Payments, but these are likely to be limited to the US and Germany as we aren’t expecting to see eBay Payments in the UK before July 2020 at the earliest.

It will also be interesting to watch for announcements around Fulfillment for eBay, known as eBay Managed Shipping. This is live in Germany, the US and Australia.

One thing we would definitely like to see addressed is the security on eBay accounts around PayPal payment email addresses. This has to be fixed to prevent more sellers having their funds syphoned off by hackers.

We would also like to see more tools to handle existing tools and make them work in conjunction with each other. For instance, currently if you receive a Best Offer you have no idea what your fees will be if you are using eBay Promoted Listings – did the seller click on an organic search result or did they click on a Promoted Listing for which you bid an additional 10% in fees? This could impact the price you’re willing to accept for the Best Offer.

Autumn 2019 eBay Seller Release Notification from eBay

“Many eBay sellers have shared that you would like a heads-up when the next Seller Update is coming so you can prepare. The 2019 Fall Seller Update will launch on Wednesday, September 4, so please set aside some time to read all the details.
eBay experts will also be on hand to answer your questions on The eBay Community and they will discuss the 2019 Fall Seller Update on the eBay for Business podcast. In addition, an eBay for Business Facebook Live broadcast is scheduled for Sept. 4.
For more information, check back on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
As always, thank you for selling on eBay”
