UPS new international shipping service to support merchants’ expansion plans
UPS today announced the launch of UPS new international shipping service aimed at supporting merchants’ expansion plans. The new service will be initially available to customers in the UK, US, Canada, China and Hong Kong ahead of the wider rollout. Merchants who are interested in the service can get started here.
The UPS new international service, called UPS® Economy is designed to offer merchants the flexibility of choosing between shipping with delivery duties paid or unpaid, reassuring levels of visibility and tracking of delivery milestones via UPS.com.
With global cross-border ecommerce sales expected to reach $1 trillion in value by 2020, this tool will aim to give merchants a ‘helping-hand’ in seizing international growth opportunities.
While the last mile is getting increased attention in the industry, merchants still consider carefully the first mile. With the same driver, same pick-up service and competitive rates, UPS aim to make the first mile easier and more economical for even the smallest of their customers. They say this service enables small businesses to compete like micro-multinationals.
At the time when businesses are facing global trade uncertainty, the flexibility of UPS’ smart global logistics network creates opportunities for them to scale-up and expand to new international markets.
This news highlights the growing demand amongst merchants to move beyond their borders. However, such a mission many presents financial hurdles. It is in sellers’ interest to integrate the most cost-saving shipping solution to mitigate the pressure on the bottom line.
