Royal Mail Warrington superhub to boost Northern Powerhouse economy

By Sasha Fedorenko July 9, 2019 - 11:32 am

Royal Mail today announced the scheduled launch of the Royal Mail Warrington superhub which will aim to boost Northern Powerhouse economy.

The 32,000 square meters hub is one of three planned superhubs in the UK for over five years. It’s planned to be the size of 4.5 football pitches to accommodate 370 employees to process about 600,000 parcels per day. The launch is part of the major focus to employ 185 employees, contributing about £1 billion to the economy.

Royal Mail say the move will see three hubs “introducing a second delivery for next day parcels and larger items.” The proximity to large cities, warehousing and fulfilment centres and transport links will strategically place the Warrington hub to meet the growing demand for next day delivery.

The delivery supplier plans to relocate their North West Distribution Centre (NWDC) and some associated operations to the new site.

Royal Mail say there will be no job losses as a result of the proposed relocation.
