Royal Mail app adds purchasing and printing postage feature

By Sasha Fedorenko June 3, 2019 - 10:34 am

Royal Mail today announced the new feature of Royal Mail app which will see consumers purchasing and printing postage labels via the app. The new add-ons will see shoppers buying Royal Mail Tracked 24, and Royal Mail Tracked 48 postage labels. The app is available for download for free on both the App Store and Google Play store.

Sellers can now check a price and buy one-off postage directly through the app. When buying postage on the app, senders receive a QR code allowing them to print postage labels for free at a Royal Mail Customer Service Point. The service isn’t available at Post Offices, which means that senders would have to locate their nearest Royal Mail Customer Service Point. Royal Mail Customer Service Points are typically located at Delivery Offices which generally have shorter opening times than Post Offices.

Royal Mail says that the app will keep customers updated with automatic notifications as their parcel moves through the supplier’s network. Customers can ensure an item is tracked all the way through. Within the app, senders can also enable SMS and email notifications to be sent to the recipient for peace of mind. This means there is no need to check back for information on delivery because customers will be updated every step of the way.

Since its launch last year, there have been several updates including:

  1. The ability to see the estimated delivery window of a parcel.
  2. When an item has been delivered, see an image of the signature if someone has signed for it, or a
  3. photograph of the safe place an item has been delivered to.
  4. Save postage receipts – customers can take a photo of their receipt and store it to the app.
