eBay’s mission is to be the world’s favourite destination for discovering great value and unique selection
eBay promoted listings to expand to more sellers
In the states eBay promoted listings will be expanding for US sellers to help them increase their listings visibility by promoting them in prominent placements in the marketplace’s search results.
eBay will now allow sellers who are in “good standing” position to use the service regardless of whether or not they have an eBay store. Previously, you had to have an eBay store to use the service.
eBay assesses merchants ‘good standing’ position based on their sales history and the quality of service they provide to buyers. The assessment takes place on 20th each month. eBay assigns sellers with one of the following levels:
- Top-Rated – One of the best sellers on eBay, which prove an exceptional quality of customer service, as well as meeting minimum sales requirements for Top Rated Seller level. If a merchant is a Top Rated Seller, they’re also eligible for Top Rated Plus listing benefits as long as they meet the listing qualification.
- Above Standard – A merchant is meeting eBay’s minimum standard for sellers and looking after their customers well.
- Below Standard – A seller is not meeting one or more of eBay’s minimum requirements for customer service quality. These sellers won’t qualify to use eBay promoted listings.
Merchants will only have to pay when a shopper clicks on the promoted listing and purchases the item within 30 days. They can choose to pay between 1% and 20% of the sale price.
eBay also say that they will provide sellers with access to detailed campaign performance, sales reports and offer them guidance on which items to promote.
Define “good standing”.
Good standing means a Chinese seller claiming to be in the UK, selling fakes but who pays eBay enough money to get to the top of searches.
Exactly what is good standing?? Above standard? Top rated? Why don’t they use terminology that actually reflects what they judge you by normally?
Basically this is just another way to get people to spend more on selling to help counter the issues ebay have.
If it is above standard, then the top rated thing again becomes less and less relevent….
HEY Biz sellers here is another kick in the baas….
