UPS rolls out speedy global shipping to support cross-border trade

By Sasha Fedorenko January 15, 2019 - 10:28 am

UPS announced today an introduction of accelerated global shipping to help businesses in the US export their goods to international markets.

The new initiative is designed to allow merchants to ship their US products to 57 countries across the Americas, Europe and Asia. Sellers that schedule a Saturday pick-up will see their customers receiving a delivery on Monday. This enables global products to ship as fast as domestic ones and one-day faster than previous UPS time-in-transit.

One day makes a big difference when it comes to your international customers deciding to place an order. We’re seeing significant opportunities for U.S. businesses, especially small and medium-sized online retailers, to export their quality products to high-growth international markets. By connecting e-tailers to our smart global logistics network, UPS helps them meet their customers’ expectations and compete with local country e-tailers.”
– Nando Cesarone, president of UPS International

Merchants that aim to extend their product offering to a larger customer-base are presented with an opportunity to ship orders six days a week via a fast delivery service. Exporting globally not only opens the doors to new consumers and partners but also gives an extra revenue boost. UPS say that sellers that export to international locations are 8.5% less likely to go out of business than those that do not.

Meanwhile, Small Business Administration reports that out of 30m US companies, less than 1% presently export. Some 58% of US businesses export to only one country. With 95% of consumers located outside the US, merchants that choose not to tap into international consumer-base are missing on both financial and growth opportunities.
