Etsy talks more about its Christmas plan in a podcast
Etsy continues its festive promotional campaign and is talking about what it is offering both buyers and sellers in this Christmas 2018 season. Etsy CEO Josh Silverman and Kruti Patel Goyal, who is the general manager of seller services at the company have been talking about their initiatives this week in a podcast. You can read the transcript here.
One specific tool that has been successful is the targeted offers system that they have recently offered:
Another thing we’ve learned recently that we’re really excited to leverage this Christmas, is the effectiveness of a new tool that we released called targeted offers. Targeted offers is a new marketing tool for sellers to be able to reach out to buyers who have already expressed interest in an item that they sell. And that could be through favouriting an item that you sell, or by adding it to their cart. A targeted offer allows you to send them a little nudge, in the form of a discount, to make that purchase they’ve been considering.

Etsy CEO Josh Silverman and his colleague actually cover an awful lot of ground in the podcast about seasonal selling and features relevant to Etsy sellers in the audio. So if you are a serious seller on Etsy it is certainly well worth a read or a listen.

Obviously, Etsy increased the fees for sellers this year and that has reaped rewards for the company. But has the promised investment in marketing and technology promised in return been successful yet too?
