Enhancements are launched for Etsy personalisation features for buyers
The crafts and vintage marketplace has launched new features for Etsy personalisation that will help buyers and sellers and aid communication when it comes to the sale and promotion of individualised items. The new feature has been warmly welcome by merchants. You can read more in this announcement that also includes a Q&A for sellers to explore exactly how the new functions work.
The specific feature, in this case, regards requests and communications that can be made before (rather than after) payment is made. This will help buyers and sellers agree a possible personalised product before a transaction contract is formalised.
Starting today, you can enable personalization on listings! We’ve created a new field you can switch on for listings where you offer personalization, for buyers to specify important details about their personalized order before they check out. You control what listings have this field, and what type of information buyers should include. Note that this feature is fully available to Etsy.com shoppers on desktop and mobile web browsers, but only available to some shoppers in the Etsy app.

Interestingly, apparently 25% of items up for sale on Etsy are personalised by merchants for shoppers. So it makes huge sense to grease the wheel of that process which is hugely dependent on communication by merchants. If you spend some time to read through the comments, it’s clear that one enhancement that sellers would welcome would be more fields regarding personalisation.
The Etsy personalisation options on the marketplace for merchants are better than seen elsewhere. Amazon offers some good services but eBay’s offering is lack-lustre. And personalised goods are a broadly attractive aspect of online trading, as Moonpig for instance, has amply demonstrated in the past decade or too.
Are you an Etsy merchant who sells personalised items? Will this new feature be useful to you?
