Amazon has more than 200 home working jobs available

By Dan Wilson August 7, 2018 - 7:16 am

There is always compelling evidence that Amazon is growing at an astonishing rate around the globe. New fulfilment centres are often opening and they create a stack of jobs every time. But not every Amazon employee works in a warehouse: others are offering customer support services, often from home. You can check out the vacancies here.

Sometimes, Amazon has virtual (or “work-from-home”) positions available to qualified individuals who live in some areas. So if you aren’t near a physical Amazon location, or just want to see if there are virtual opportunities in your area, you’re in the right place. Virtual opportunities are not available in all areas–specific questions about virtual positions can be discussed during the interview process with your recruiter.
– Amazon Jobs

In particular the skills that Amazon are looking for are linguistic and related to offering online customer support and the jobs available reflect the broad geographical of Amazon’s global reach. It is very keen to point out that the jobs come with manifold benefits and perks, clubbing not-to-be-sniffed-at discounts. And the flip side of such developments relates to finding efficiencies in making sure that despatches are dealt with swiftly and cleverly because that’s how things stay cheap.

There’s been a lot of media attention on the working practices and the various jobs they have on offer. Indeed, just in the past few days, there has ben critical coverage in the media about warehouse jobs and specific focus on a new patent.

The Daily Mirror, in particular, has been looking at new technology that they hope will make their staff more efficient as pickers and packers when it’s introduced. Here is the story: Amazon under fire for patenting ‘augmented reality’ goggles to spy on workers and make them work harder.

There’s nothing much new about Bezo’s passion for patents and innovation and it will likely be a long time before this gizmo is used in the warehouses. Are you tempted to apply?
