Amazon Prime Day 2018 date leaked by Amazon

Amazon Prime Day will take place on the 17th of July, not the 10th as previous suspected, according to an image spotted on Amazon UK by Techradar. The banner has the Amazon Prime Day 2018 date as the 16th.

Deals will start on the 16th of July at midday in what Amazon describe as ‘An epic day (and a half) of our best deals’.

The 36 hours of deals will make this the longest Amazon Prime Day to date, in 2017 deals ran for 30 hours so starting at midday gives an additional 6 hours of selling time… if they can whip up consumers interest enough to sustain sales which doubtless they will because half the country must be Prime members.

What will really make a difference to Prime Day this year is how searchable Amazon make the offers. In the past, it was very much a case of taking a quick look at the site and seeing if a Prime Day offer grabbed your attention. Last year offers were split into categories, but there are so many deals on Prime Day that what’s really needed is a search function on upcoming deals so that you can save them for when the deal goes live.

If you’re a merchant, you may as we were have been expecting Prime Day to be on the 10th of July as it’s traditionally been the second Tuesday of the month. It may well still be then, but with the banner that Techradar snagged a screenshot of the smart money has to be now on the 16th/17th. If you’ve lined up extra staff to cope you’ll need to be aware that the you may need to have them on standby until the date is finally officially confirmed
