Lou Rivieccio is the new president of UPS Europe operations

By Dan Wilson May 3, 2018 - 7:47 pm

Lou Rivieccio has been appointed as the new president of the UPS Europe business.

Rivieccio has been with UPS for 34 years. He started out with the company as a part-time package handler in New York and went onto hold several key management positions across the US and Canada. He succeeds Nando Cesarone, who has been appointed president of UPS International and will now be responsible for all of UPS’s activities outside of the US.

To take the role, Rivieccio will step down from presiding over the group’s eastern US operations. Chief operating officer Jim Barber said the move came in a time of increased investment in the company’s European network.

Europe is a prime example of how our smart global logistics network continues to evolve, helping customers of all sizes to build their businesses. I have no doubt that Lou’s knowledge and experience will ensure ongoing success and growth for us and our customers in this key region of the world.
– Jim Barber, UPS COO

And it does seem like UPS is looking more keenly at Europe as an arena for growth in recent months, as we’ve reported. And it is a clear signal that US companies are looking beyond the 50 states for growth. But perhaps most heartening is the fact that someone can still rise through the ranks and take a senior executive position having started out a career on the shop floor.
