eBay sellers gather at the Eastern European Seller Summit in Budapest

By Dan Wilson May 14, 2018 - 10:31 pm

eBay sellers have gathered in the Hungarian capital Budapest at the second Eastern European Seller Summit. Last year merchants met in Sofia in Bulgaria.

The eBay Moscow team hosted 161 Eastern European sellers in Budapest and attendees came from more than 20 European countries. More than 80% of the guests made their way to the event from abroad to learn about new ways to grow their businesses on eBay. Guests heard from six eBay speakers who shared useful tools, services and insights from global teams on how to boost sales.

At the summit, 5 seller champions were named for the year ahead in the following categories: Growth, Shipping, Export, Visibility and Customer Experience. They’ll be working with eBay staff to ensure that sellers’ voices are heard and their interests are represented.

You can get a flavour of the event from this video:

It’s always positive to learn that eBay is holding such events and taking the time, and spending the money, to build connections with eBay sellers and welcoming direct communication with merchants who do often feel ignored.

From my one time on the staff at eBay, I know that such events are absolutely invaluable and I always returned to the office with a ton of insights and ideas that could be implemented to improve the seller experience. It would be good to report more events of a similar kind in the UK: eBay Connect is coming up in Las Vegas in the next few weeks.

And it is also good to see that eBay is looking to Eastern Europe and developing the seller community there. There is huge scope for development and growth in Eastern Europe, and Russia too, not just for local sellers but those in Britain and around the world.

We’d love to hear from any merchants, especially from Eastern Europe, who attended this meet-up and hear more about the agenda and any key announcements that eBay might have made. Were you there?

Have your say
