Have you experienced a problem with eBay tracking numbers this week?
We’ve seen a few reports of eBay sellers having problems when entering parcel tracking numbers in the past week. But, equally, we can’t say for sure that there has been a problem. So we thought it best to ask the experts: that means you. Have you experienced any problems when entering, or indeed editing, eBay tracking numbers this past week or so?
The reports are unclear and inconsistent. But basically sellers say that they are having problems entering the details, editing the numbers and amending them. One Facebook commenter noted that they had been in contact with eBay customer support and they conformed there was a problem. Another said that they had previously experienced issues which did now seem to be resolved.
Obviously, tracking numbers are a requirement for sellers and critical because they determine certain aspects of your defect level and seller rating. And, in the event of a problem or dispute, they are vital in determining the path of events. Even if eBay doesn’t always take them as gospel.
And buyers value them too: it helps them understand when exactly they’re going to get the goods and make plans accordingly.

No, because we won’t be adding any tracking info on eBay until we’re forced to do so on the 1st of June.
From my perspective, it’s just another pointless hoop to jump through. Our customers already get an email and a text message from our courier with updates/live van tracking etc. and have done for years.
Will they be able to change the delivery date/ask it to be left in a safe place/delivered to an alternative address etc. from within the eBay platform? Of course not. It adds nothing for our buyers in my opinion, just duplicate information and more things to go wrong.
I have had problems on a couple of days entering tracking numbers on the main website but after heading to the Ebay forum I found that I could still enter the details using the Ebay Mobile App.
Been restricted indefinitely despite always entering tracking being top rated with no negatives in 12 months
If it can happen to me it can happen to anyone so be careful working with this corporation. They honestly don’t care.

@ Ian A, I would be most interested as to WHY you got restricted indefinitely? Its obvious that your attitude sucks from the posts you write but ebay done know who you are (nor would they chastise you for your bias negative and misguided opinions).
So…….what happened? You don’t get restricted for life for no reason lol.

I can’t input any of my APC OVERNIGHT tracking numbers into their system for a few months now, every time i input a number and enter COLLECTPLUS comes up
@David I have countless problems with APC numbers since they went over onto their new hypaship system. Because the tracking number is specific to me it is usually a number that has already been used and ebay does not like it. . I get around this by putting 01/what ever the number is. If collect plus comes up it lets me change to APC.
I never enter tracking details and I don’t follow the “buyers value them too: it helps them understand when exactly they’re going to get the goods and make plans accordingly. ” way of thinking as if they were really as important as people keep saying, I am sure I would be asked for them.
I do understand that sometimes it is important and I have myself asked for them on the very odd occasion. But I really did not have any plans to make for the arrival of my Salt & Pepper pots or 100 other items that I have brought in the last year, that simply just turned up without fuss.
And for Royal Mail standard post 1st & 2nd class, the item is only tracked at the point of delivery, so chances are, I already have the item.
Brought 3 items today all posted to me but all 3 items have tracking numbers that are not recognised
@Dennis – It depends on who it was posted with, with Royal Mail the tracking does not show anything until delivery has been made or attempted.

We use APC – when entering the the tracking number on eBay, it needs to be the long 22 digit one with no spaces and courier name is just APC.
It should then let the buyer click on the link beside their order in eBay and it takes them to the tracking page on the APC website with the correct tracking number pre-populated, the buyer then needs to enter the delivery postcode to track the order.
It’s not as seamless as some couriers, but seems to work OK for for us, hope this helps someone.

Well we have noticed something with our Royal Mail barcode, Wed, Thurs, Fri
Instead of starting with 320 like all ours do, and they were fine today and back to normal.
Everything from those days starts with IF0, this is on the labels and we only went to notice when we went to see if a delivery had arrived we get “Tracking information is not available for this service”
This has happened for all 24/48 and parcel services. RMG appears to to be generating wrong or useless tracking.
This what being uploaded to ebay and it does not work.
@Sam – I have just checked ours, we sent out 60 items on the 14th & 15th and they all have the same identical tracking number starting with 1F0477….
@ Sam, Royal mail are aware of this problem. They fixed it a few days ago but we were getting the same message from all 2d barcodes from the 12th march till the 15th March.
If you are using click and drop you will see the “32” number further down the page (in other words there are 2 x 2d barcodes assigned to the packets for this period). The “32” number should work fine but the 1F number does not work on Royal Mail Track and trace web site – you will see no delivery confirmation. Although Royal Mail are working on this I am doubtful if they will get the 1F numbers to update. However – if you are needing confirmation of delivery the correct number is further down the page of click and drop – you must enable “tracking number” from setting at top right of orders page.

If you give Royal Mail Click and Drop team a phone they will be happy to provide you with a letter that (should) cover you for defects on ebay. If you need the number for them let me know – its not the normal business number.
Don’t let them tell you that the “32” number (the number that works) is not retrievable – it is on the page further down.
All labels nationwide from today onwards should be back to normal and start with “32” (which works).
@alan paterson – I do not see where you mean by further down the page
I have the “tracking number” showing as it is easy to click that link to track.
All it shows is the 1F0477… number
I also looked at the PDF labels, they are showing the code 1F0477…. on them.
Nearlyll items posted on the 15/16/17 show as “Tracking information is not available for this service”. Even for the 32 labels.
The KK signed for items, for those dates, show as being delivered.
Items posted on the 14th also show as being delivered.
@ tyler, are you using click and drop? or DMO ?
If click and drop go into the order and scroll down. The 32……… number should be down the page a bit. Its really difficult to explain on here. The top will be the 1F …….. number – that wont work and unfortunately is also the number that was printed on your label……… but the “real” number, the 32……….. number is further down the order page.
Sorry, best I can explain at moment. I can maybe look at a way of getting you a screenshot. Or i can get you the direct number for click and drop if you like (although they don’t always give the correct info from my experience)
the good news is that new labels are now fixed.
@alan paterson – Yes I am using Click & Drop.
On the reports/despatched-orders/ page it shows the Tracking number for each parcel, on all but the 14/15th it shows a 32 number, on the 14/15th it shows the 1F047… number
I do not see anywhere that it shows two numbers.
The only ones it shows different is the KK signed for numbers and they are the only ones that show an item as being delivered.
@ tyler, its only 2d barcodes that were effected. Your KK prefixes will be fine.
Hopefully you wont need the 2d barcodes to work. I suppose its only a problem if a buyer opens an INR case. the actual item delivery should not be effected – only the confirmation of delivery.
If you upload the 2d barcode to ebay it wont protect you from the dreaded “question” “did the item arrive on time”? However, it wont CAUSE a late delivery defect if you have uploaded it in its current state.
In other words its not as bad as it looks……..although combined with the backlogs at some mail centres last week (recovering from severe weather) it was looking bad last week. I was pulling my hair out.
To protect us against any potential late delivery defects I got Click and Drop team to write a letter so as i can show it to ebay (if need be). To be doubly sure i also got a letter from my RM account manager confirming the problem and also confirming that there WERE still backlogs at the Mail Centre a week after the snow had cleared. I am hoping that ebay will accept these for any defects caused. By the time I realised that there was a second number (the 32……. number) i had already uploaded the 2d 1F ………. number. DOH!
I believe its a hexadecimal number and went “over limit” so the system couldn’t read / cope with the number (like trying to count to 11 on your fingers lol)

@ tyler, my apologies Tyler, i have just went into click and drop and only SOME of my orders have the “translated” 32……… number. Many have just the 1f……… number twice.
So your orders may not have the number required…………….
click and drop they are well aware of the problem and from today the delivery confirmation for the labels is now working again.

Count backwards on the one hand & then add the number (5) left on the other.

I was trying to explain the system problem to a layman – the computer run out of fingers.
The system works in Hex – thats the “1F………” – the system “over flowed” – its not meant to go up to that number – “it run our of fingers”.
Are you seriously posting back instructions of how to count in decimal?
