Update on the Amazon Rugeley fulfilment centre fire
Last weekend there was a big fire at the Amazon Rugeley fulfilment centre in the Midlands. It was a large blaze and the chances are that, should you have stock in the FBA (fulfilment by Amazon) network that you will be impacted. The fire is being treated as suspicious although no arrests have been made yet and police and the fire service continue to investigate. Amazon have been keen to stress that the fire has caused minimal disruption.
Fire Investigation Officer Carl Mason said: “The blaze has left the building seriously damaged but fortunately everyone inside was safely evacuated and no one was injured during the incident. Thankfully the building did have a sprinkler system fitted which has prevented the fire from spreading and becoming far more serious.”
In a press statement, Amazon said: “The site was only out of action for a short time and staff were back to work on Monday. This won’t have an impact on our Christmas deliveries.”
And here is what Amazon has sent out to sellers who might be affected: “Following an operational incident in one of our Fulfilment Centers, some of your items may have been damaged. While we work to confirm the condition of all the items affected, some of them will be in reserved condition. Once they have been reviewed they will either become available to customers again or will be reimbursed as per the standard FBA Lost and Damaged Inventory Reimbursement Policy.
We recognize you may be concerned about customers being able to purchase your items, especially at this time. We are actively working to ensure that your inventory is available for sale to customers as quickly as possible.”

No, heard absolutely nothing since the first email. Quite a few items are showing as ‘reserved’ though. Who knows whether they are damaged or just waiting to be assessed
I have been told to submit a removal order which I presume i will be charged for. Expecting destroyed goods to arrive back soon. Do I get compensated?
Do not request your items back under any circumstances should they be warehouse damaged. Open a case with Seller Support, advising you expect any warehouse damaged items to be compensated under their Lost and Damaged policy.
