Changes at CDiscount that will impact retailers

The French ecommerce giant and marketplace Cdiscount (which is, don’t forget, second only to Amazon in France) is making several changes to its offering which will impact retailers using the site. Will changes at CDiscount impact you?

Changes at CDiscount regarding seller standards

In a move that will scarcely be a surprise to eBay and Amazon sellers, CDiscount is demanding more from sellers. They’re upping their so-called ‘order acceptation rate’ from 95% up to 97.50%. The product shipping rate is similarly moving from 95% to 97.50% too. The CDiscount “Preparation deadline compliance rate” will be increasing from 95% to 96%.

The clear idea here, as is familiar, is that CDiscount want to encourage a better buying experience for consumers by requiring better performance from sellers.

Changes at CDiscount regarding fulfilment fees and rules

CDiscount is also now requiring too that sellers move slow moving stock out of their fulfilment service: “Now, CDiscount may ask you to take back your CDiscount Fulfilment inventory that has had no movement for the last six months, instead of nine previously. So it is worth doing some insights into your products and sales history. If your products are seasonal then it would be worth into looking how many sold during a peak period. By knowing this data you will be able to forecast and send the right amount of stock at the right date.”

There’s little doubt that CDiscount is one of the most exciting ecommerce opportunities in Europe right now. France is a serious online retail market that you can easily plug into. Not least because they offer an decent fulfilment service to merchants.

Are you familiar with selling on CDiscount and will these changes make much difference to you? They don’t seem quite as onerous or impossible when you consider the similar regs on Amazon or eBay. Be sure to comment below if you disagree.
