Weather disruption causing delays on the US Eastern Seaboard area
Severe wintery weather in the East of the USA are causing some delays for delivery firms. States that seem to affected include Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont. On the other side of the country, in Oregon and Washington state, there is apparently similar disruption.
As Fedex notes on their website: “The winter storm is causing hazardous conditions across the Northeast region of the U.S. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our team members, as well as providing the highest level of service to our customers. Although contingency plans are in place, some service delays and disruptions can be anticipated for inbound and outbound shipments in CT, ME, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA and VT. (Fedex is just one example but this message is typical of other carriers.)
It’s unclear how severe the disruption is or, indeed, how long it will last but it’s well worth over-communicating with buyers if you may be affected. The good news is that in New England and the North Eastern USA is quite used to severe weather so hopefully disruption will be kept to a minimum.
And it could well be the case that we a dose of the same snow and cold here in the UK over the next few days. There are numerous news reports that a cold snap is on the way for the the whole country. Needless to say, those of you in Scotland and the North of England and Northern Ireland, will likely have had a dose of snow already. But there hasn’t been a severe dose in the south and London.
Let us know if you’re already suffering from weather related disruption in 2017. In the UK or the US or indeed anywhere in the world.
ironically the image is of a Snowmobile, rather than a (product) container lorry,
though i suppose even the AWS Snowmobile will have trouble with snow.
