#Tamebay@10 Celebrating with Tamebay’s extended family
On the 10th of November Internet Retailing threw a party for Tamebay at Vanilla in London to celebrate our 10th birthday. It was amazing to see the number of people that turned up from readers to advertisers, marketplaces and partners, friends we’ve made over the past decade and especially the team who run Tamebay today.
Tamebay was once just Sue and myself. Five years ago Sue became temporarily unavailable and Dan stepped in and for another few years it was just Dan and myself. Sure we had outside help from our web developers and partners but it was a very small team of two who had to manage everything from editorial to finance.
That changed 18 months ago when Mark Pigou of the Internet Retailing team approached us once again with the proposal to acquire Tamebay. We said yes to the promise that he would put a team in place to run all of the back office stuff and leave Dan and myself free to concentrate on editorial. Then they threw a party to celebrate the past 10 year’s achievements.
One thing that was important about the acquisition for Dan and myself was gaining a team of experts who could do the things that we weren’t experts in. It had to be people we could work with and our 10th birthday showed that we’re no longer alone.
I’m immensely proud of Tamebay and very protective of it and so is Dan, but it feels like we’ve come home and are now part of the team at Internet Retailing. At the party you may have met Ian and Chris on the leadership team, Quill and Joe on sales with Andy, and Emilly and Nolan from marketing to name a few. There are many others working behind the scenes and you’ll also have had emails from Mark who put the whole party together and made sure the entire night was fantastic and went off without a hitch.
I’d like to thank our new team at Internet Retailing for accepting us in and making us feel at home. I’d also like to thank Tamebay’s friends and partners, both those that were able to come to the party and those who couldn’t make it. For 10 years my life has been Tamebay and you are all part of Tamebay’s extended family. We couldn’t do it without you.
