Reports of eBay email messaging glitches

eBay BugWe’re hearing that there are some glitches with eBay messaging today with emails not getting through.

One reader tells us that member to member messaging is borked saying “Basically all our replies to customers are being blocked. I raised it with them and they said it’s a known issue and added our account to their IT ticket but couldn’t give me a timescale for a fix“.

We’ve also had reports that eBay sale notifications aren’t getting through which suggests a deeper email problem than just member to member messaging (PayPal notifications are for once being received).

In reality eBay’s end of item sale notification emails aren’t that important for business sellers. You should be checking regularly for sales, be aware how much cash is in your PayPal account and probably print out your orders in bulk anyway. Member to member emails are the critical part of the system as these could cost you sales or, probably worse, impact your feedback if post sales questions aren’t responded to.

    of all the things you could fix, completely and utterly, in the space of a lunch break, they still insist on imposing a messaging system that would make users of MSN in the 90’s embarrased.
    throw it out, replace it with something fit for purpose, who’s primary objective is enabling person-to-person communication, not data-mining.

    We didn’t get PP notifications yesterday for eBay orders.

    Messages is crap, always has been and always will be if it isn’t replaced.

    Fire it into the sun and get someone to build a new system

    Strange message from Ebay today:

    During the month of October, we experienced a system error that miscalculated some of your final value fees.

    To adjust for this error, you will see the missing final value fees listed on your next invoice. In addition, the accurate final value fees will be reflected on your account status page in approximately 72 hours.

    We apologize apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you. At this point, there is no action that you need to take. However, if you have questions regarding your invoice, please feel free to contact our customer service team.

    Messages option, updating listings working randomly today. It appears that there are overall site problems, buyers being blocked and outages in the UK areas.

    We’ve not received any sold item email notifications since Nov 14th evening, approx 40 individual sales

    We are getting notifications about questions being asked
