The world’s top 1000 eBay sellers
Over at Web Retailer Andy Geldman has drawn up his annual list of the top sellers and, as usual, it makes for interesting reading. Here are the top 10 sellers in the world.
You can access the full list here.
What does the list tell us? It shows that international trade is a hallmark of success with 39% of sellers on the list selling cross border. And the biggest cohort here are the Chinese. 32.5% of the top 1,000 eBay sellers are Chinese traders selling to the US, Europe and Australia.
Andy has crunched the numbers over on Web Retailer and offers greater analysis of his research.
How is a top seller determined? as Andy says: “They have gained the most positive feedback in the last 12 months, and they are all Premium Store owners (or the international equivalent such as Featured Shops in the UK). Feedback volume is a useful approximation to selling volume.” So while this is imperfect in some senses it is the best that can be done with the limited available data.
Always interesting to look at lists like these, however I’ve noticed one seller who should be around #100 in the UK list, but isn’t on there anywhere.
And there’s a couple of comments on the article stating similar issues, so it’s difficult to know if we can fully trust the list.
Which seller is this?
An approximation of sales volume rather than revenue.

We’re on this list around 700 and we’ve only 2 full time staff members and 2 part time. I wonder how high we have to get before we get good service / an account manager from ebay?
If you work it out let us know. We’re top 50 and that’s clearly not enough.
That’s amazing that you don’t have an account manager when you’re top 50. Having said that, this list is a bit like measuring a company’s success by it’s turnover. It has nothing to do with profits and I suppose ebay will only be interested in the big sellers selling high value items.
Or maybe the shoddy customer service extends to all their sellers no matter how big…?
How many sellers are there in total?
