Linnworks identify security vulnerability and fix it
In one of their recent database security reviews Linnworks identified a potential weakness in their database security system. As a precaution they are forcing everyone to update their Linnworks account passwords next time they log in.
The Linnowrks development team swiftly identified the problem and worked immediately to ensure that they closed off this vulnerability. The issue arose during some of the changes from their old Billing and Accountancy system to the new one.
As an extra security precaution, Linnworks have now migrated everyone onto the new system in the last couple of days and have set prompts in place for every Linnworks user to update their passwords.
This might sound rather alarming, but actually it’s good news. Too often we only hear from companies when they’ve had a security breach and passwords have been stolen. There’s no indication that Linnworks were penetrated or had any data breach, they simply appear to be taking an ultra cautious approach to forestall any future issues.
Bravo Linnworks for catching this one before the vulnerability was exploited and kudos for being open and transparent about it.
