The new EasyFoodstore has already shut. Sort of.

Did you read about it? Earlier this week, the Easy group made famous by EasyJet and founded by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, opened a new venture: EasyFoodstore. The idea was to take on the bargain supermarkets Lidl and Aldi and everything in store was priced at 25p.

But the shop located in Park Royal, London has already closed, for the time being, because it has run out of stock.

A spokesperson said: “The level of interest has been completely overwhelming. The last people through the door today had travelled up from Canterbury. We anticipated we had enough stock to last a couple of weeks but it has just gone in a day and a half.”

Sounds to me like they could probably put their prices up.

On BBC South East last night they had a reporter on site and indeed the dexion shelving was nearly empty excluding 100’s of tins of tomatoes soup ()flashed @ 3 for a £, so great qaulity).

The buyer clearly were not just there for an average weekly shiop & some had dozens of the same items, obviously stockpiling things.

I loved one woman who had a good £500 in crisp 50s and nothing to spend it on…

Supposed to be reopening on Friday 0/02!!

What do they expect? They were selling stock below cost. This is a purely a marketing campaign.
