Outlook partner add-ins now support PayPal
Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that they were going to roll out Add-ins for Outlook.com and have now started rolling them out. One of the first Add-ins for Outlook.com is PayPal.
Outlook.com has 400 million active users which dwarfs PayPal’s 169 million active accounts making this a really powerful way for PayPal to get exposure to a new mass market.
The aim of Partner Add-ins is to enable Outlook users to do more directly from their inbox – anything from finding restaurants for a dinner with friends on Yelp, to booking an Uber car to get there and paying your portion of the tab with PayPal.
You can send contacts money through PayPal directly from your inbox using the PayPal add-in for Outlook. The PayPal add-in is available in Outlook 2013 and Outlook on the web for users with Office 365 and Exchange 2013 mailboxes. It’s coming to users of the new Outlook.com within the next month.
This means if a friend invites you to a gig, you can instantly reply with a PayPal payment for your share of the tickets at the same time as adding the event to your Outlook calendar.
Microsoft have partnerships with Evernote, Yelp, IFTTT and Wunderlist to deliver solutions with the Uber, PayPal, Evernote and Boomerang add-ins the first to roll out.
