Amazon Courier hmPeople in the Midlands are spending far too much on Amazon and the retailer can’t cope with the demand. They’ve been forced to move the Leicestershire Amazon Logistics delivery station to new premises, double their local staff, and add more then 50% more local delivery drivers.

The existing site at Willow Farm Business Park, Castle Donington will be moved to a new site at Interlink Way, Bardon and the 20 people already employed directly by Amazon Logistics and will increase to 40 at the new site, which opens next month.

It’s good news for local courier companies, currently, four independent delivery companies have 240 drivers delivering to Amazon customers but this will increase to eight companies with the hiring of around 135 additional drivers.

Jamie Stephenson, UK Director for Amazon Logistics, said: “Amazon Logistics adds capacity and flexibility to Amazon’s delivery network, enabling us to meet the delivery needs of customers. Amazon Logistics is also helping independent local delivery companies to grow their businesses by providing state of the art technology to deliver Amazon orders”.

Amazon announced that Sunday deliveries have grown by more than four times in the last year as more customers across the UK discover the benefits of receiving orders seven days a week. The increase in Sunday deliveries has been made possible in large part due to the introduction of Amazon Logistics.

Amazon Logistics are one of the key ways that Amazon are able to fulfil their delivery promises to customers. Don’t forget that if your products are in Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA), then you benefit from Amazon’s increased investments too.
