Why people get ripped off by Magento developers (video)
If you’re considering employing Magento as the next step in your recommence journey, this video from our friends at UnderstandingE have put together this video expelling in the possibilities and potential pitfalls of getting started with a third-party.
If you’re just starting to get your head around Magento, this is well worth watching.
Is very low and unprofessional and disappointing seeing this video where they start diminishing Magento eCommerce companies by saying Magento is cheap labour and easy to do it for less
If you want something cheap then use Woocommerce. But the first thing we say to clients is that Magento is not the cheap option as is not as plug and play as it seems.
If you want a template and normal default setup yes is straight forward but not by criticizing others people quotes. There are bad developers and there are excellent Co. and developers out there.
Teaching how to evaluate properly is the key
By the way their tutorial sites is good product and contribution to Magento ecosystem.
I appreciate the feedback on the video above and take your comments on board. Thank you as well for the kind words regarding our tutorials.
Just to add a little context for the video for you. Two weeks ago I had received 5+ emails from people complaining about ludicrous quotes from ‘Magento Design’ companies who when questioned on Ecommerce it became very apparent they knew very little.
With a bit of digging it then became very clear that companies out there were and still are charging £4-5K for Magento website designs when in reality they were purchasing $50-70 themes and making very slight CSS changes.
That is our problem! Companies charging £2000 to install a free extension, when we show you how to install this extension for free (It really isn’t complicated)
We are taking nothing away from professional design and dev agencies as we know better than most the cost of good work. It is rather trying to educate those who aren’t so aware as to what they are paying for, and to avoid getting ripped off by people profiteering from lack of knowledge.
I hope you can see where we are coming from.
Perfect timing for me, as just starting down the Magento route. Enjoyed the video and now have a page full of notes and ideas to review and research. Looking forward to their other videos – thanks!
