Pinterest edging closer to adding a ‘Buy’ button

By Dan Wilson February 19, 2015 - 5:22 pm

It’s always the struggle that social media has tangled with: how do you monetise the interactions that people make on your site. Different models have emerged with Facebook and Twitter and now it looks like Pinterest is edging closer to adopting an ecommerce model to its site.

The so-called “buy button” would allow people browsing the pins to buy the goods on show. It’s something that could work with Pinterest because people do visit the site looking for shopping inspiration and unusual items. It’s said that Stripe will power the payments. It’s not known when the feature will trial or launch.

A Pinterest spokesperson didn’t comment dirtily but did say: “Part of our strategy (is)to help people discover new things, save them, and do these things in real life has always been to make Pins more useful.”

I think Pinterest have a found a gap in the market .
All shoppers don’t want to buy cheap products that are mass produce .
Some of us want to shop for unique products and special items that are hard to track down on the high street.

Pinterest will end up a great site with fantastic unique shops full of great products at great prices from great sellers :)

Exciting times ahead at Pinterest .

    PS
A little like ebay used to be before they decide that cheap is best .
