Why you should be selling to Australians

By Chris Dawson January 20, 2015 - 12:47 pm

Worldwide Parcel Services ship a lot of parcels all over the planet, so have a pretty good insight as to which destinations attract the most sales from the UK. One of the busiest locations is the other side of the world – Australia.

That shouldn’t be a surprise, we’re closely related cultures and importantly they speak English so there are no language barriers.

It’s not that long ago that getting a parcel to Australia would take months, but today air services from DHL and UPS aim to have delivery completed in under 4 days.

If you’re still not convinced that you should be targeting Australia in 2015, Worldwide Parcel Services have produced the infographic below with some fun facts from the past year’s shipments:

I’m in the UK and have shipped to Australia for a few years.

Never lost a parcel (ship standard Royal Mail) and I can honestly say that Australian customers are some of the nicest and friendliest I’ve dealt with. Absolute pleasure selling to them :)

Same here, I love the Aussies, no hassle, never order the wrong parts.

DHL / UPS take 4 days to Oz!? yet Royal Mail mid Nov/early Dec were taking 4-5 weeks hence i had 4 unhappyt Aussie buyers. Yes i agree Oz buyers are usually great but i won’t ship there next Christmas, takes far longer than it should and i can’t afford the resultant defects

      +1 Nick and Noel

Sorry Chrissieboy, I have dealt with Oz for 6 years and consistantly find them very easy to deal with and very appreciative. A few orders took a little longer to get there but with communication they understood and were patient, and I had no real issues over Christmas.

IMO: They are one of the nicest countrys to deal with and they buy from the UK because even after shipping its much cheaper than buying in Oz, and thats if they can find a supplier locally with what they need. They also appreciate the fact that UK sellers will ship there (fairly quickly) but are still patient about delivery times.

Fantastic people to deal with, never had a problem with either Airmail or couriers to Oz, any issue just communicate and they understand and are patient. I totally recommend everyone looks at Oz as a serious market – for my business it is in the top 4 of annual sales.

Only advice I can give is be straight and communicate as they really appreciate it and will do same, and don’t use surface post (takes about 6 – 8 weeks). Use Airmail or courier – they will pay for it and be happy and ofton are repeat customers or recommend their friends.

Great people and they also do bloody good BBQ’s (and beer!).

      Long live The Revolution!! :)
