US based Stamps.com acquires Shipworks

By Chris Dawson October 21, 2014 - 7:11 pm

stampsStamps.com, provider of USPS postage online to over 500,000 customers, has acquired Shipworks who offer subscription based e-commerce shipping software.

ShipworksShipWorks solutions integrate with over 50 popular online sales and marketplace systems including the big three – eBay, PayPal and Amazon. ShipWorks offers multi-carrier (DHL Global Mail, FedEx, UPS, and USPS) shipping options and features including sending email notifications to buyers, updating online order status, generating reports and many more.

“The acquisition of ShipWorks represents another strategic investment in our high volume and e-commerce shipping business,” said Ken McBride, Stamps.com chairman and CEO. “E-commerce driven package shipping is a very attractive segment within the mailing and shipping space and this acquisition further leverages our ability to accelerate our growth in this area.”

Stamps.com purchased ShipWorks for approximately $22 million in cash. Stamps.com plans for ShipWorks to operate as an independent, wholly-owned subsidiary, led by the existing management team.
