eBay apps for the Amazon Fire smartphone

By Chris Dawson July 28, 2014 - 6:25 am

Although the Amazon Fire Phone is a highly optimized version of Android tweaked to make everything you do based around Amazon products and services, they’ve been unable to completely ignore their arch rival eBay.

eBay on AmazonYou (if you live in the US and can buy a Fire Phone in the first place) can now download an eBay app, PayPal app and StubHub app from the Amazon app store.

I imagine eBay wasn’t top of Jeff Bezos’ mind when he created the Fire Phone but it would be suicide for Amazon to block eBay apps on the device – if people can’t get the apps they want no one will buy the Fire Phone in the first place. I would just love to be a fly on the wall the first time a user presses the “Mayday” button and asks for help to buy something on eBay!
