eBay UK expands Baby and Toddlers category
eBay UK has launched a shiny new baby and toddlers category that not only seeks to enhance the shopping experience for buyers but also includes branded shopfronts from some of the biggest names in the sector.
The new Baby category includes shops from the High Streets such as Mothercare, Mamas & Papas and Toys R Us. You can have a look at it here. It’s a clearly a comprehensive and engaging page and if eBay work hard to promote it, then it could be a real boon for baby sellers. What’s not clear is whether the big name retailers will get preferential promotion over smaller sellers.
Tanya Lawler, vice president for eBay in the UK, says: “We’re delighted to expand our baby and toddler category. We’ve listened to our customers and have responded. Whether it’s a brand new cot from a trusted brand, bespoke items from a small business, or a pre-loved pram from other parents, eBay has a one stop shop, catering for all parents’ needs.
“With more than 18 million unique visitors per month in the UK alone, we have unrivalled knowledge of shoppers. Whether it’s every day essentials or specialist, boutique items, we continue to connect shoppers with the things they need and love. This is simply the latest step in our journey, offering well known retail brands and partners an additional platform to reach their customers.”
Jumped to Baby & Toddler > Baby Clothing > Boys Shoes
I expected to see thousands of listings and was wanting to see where mine were in the mix.
But I see 46 options for boys shoes – 84 for Girls
This is not what I would call a good choice for the buyer and disastrous for the hundreds of sellers whose products are not being shown.
Work in progress? Or finished article?
I’ll be calling eBay today to see what I need to do to get my listings in this section. But I shouldn’t have to.
