Red Noses, mothers2mothers & eBay for Charity
Red Nose Day
It’s red nose day, and if you venture out your sure to find someone shaking a bucket collecting for the charity. Alternatively from the comfort of your front room on your tablet or from your office PC you can support the charity by buying or selling on eBay.
There are of course a set of offering unique fashion items and one-off experiences. This year some of the biggest names in fashion such as Louis Vuitton, David Gandy, Roland Mouret, Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Claudia Schiffer, E.Tautz, Thom Sweeney and Rankin have joined forces for David Gandy’s Blue Steel Appeal to raise money for Red Nose Day.
Top auction is an all-expenses paid trip for a Lucky Brand fashion shoot with David Gandy in the USA including flights and three days accommodation.
If you’d like to support the Red Nose Day appeal on eBay.co.uk, just make Comic Relief into a and it’ll appear in the sell form the next time you list.
Whilst Red Nose Day will undoubtedly get the most press tomorrow, don’t forget that there are over 7,000 UK charities, large and small, that you can support on eBay. David Brackin and his colleagues at Stuff U Sell are working with mothers2mothers. Stars including which will raise funds for the charity’s vital work in sub-Saharan Africa, preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
The inaugural “Look to the Stars” auction to celebrate last weekends Mother’s Day has items up for grabs including an autographed selection of Kings Speech memorabilia from Colin Firth, artwork created by Annie Lennox, a beautiful jewellery box from artist and model Tali Lennox and two beautiful designer dresses from Emma Bunton and Mollie King.
If you’d like to support the mothers2mothers, just make them one of your and they’ll appear in the sell form the next time you list.
eBay for Charity
Sadly not everyone has David Brackin’s eBay experience and this week’s inept eBay Charity seller is Celebrity Big Brother star and WAG Danielle Lloyd. for a bargain £1500 start price or BIN of £2200 (the four Eleni bridal dresses are supposed to have cost over £2000 each).
Sadly the auction simply states “Money raised will be going to charity”, but Danielle doesn’t state which charity she’ll be donating to. Also by not using eBay for Charity she’s missing out on eBay donating the fees to bump up the donation to the mystery good cause.
If you are going to raise money on eBay to benefit a charity then not only will increase the size of your donation, but it gives prospective buyers the surety that the money they bid will end up with the good cause they wanted to benefit. Whilst we’re certain Danielle will make sure the money assists a charity, if you’re going to bid on the auction it would be nice to know which charity your bid is supporting, it might even encourage buyers to bid a higher price.
We have made some very special garden ornaments for Red Nose day with 100% of the auction sale price going to Comic Relief, I hope you don’t mind a plug but it is for a good cause!
If anyone else has some charity auctions running please do feel free to share!
