eBay re-announce The Feed

By Chris Dawson February 18, 2013 - 12:07 pm

eBay have just re-announced the eBay Feed on the , along with a site to introduce The Feed to those who haven’t seen it before.

We’ve been wondering what was happening, as when The Feed was first announced back in October it was scheduled to be rolled out to all US users by the end of 2012. Since then eBay have been tweaking The Feed rooting out spam and adding a new sign in page, but the roll out has been much slower than originally planned.

Another fly in the ointment is that Jack Abraham, the inventor of the feed, will be leaving eBay. Without his vision to push the Feed forwards and rail road it over those fighting for home page content (eBay’s Daily Deals and advertising sales teams).

We also suspect that eBay have been doing a heck of a lot of testing, checking what the impact of buyers using the Feed as their homepage compared to those with the current eBay home page and how it affects spending habits. eBay are not likely to make a permanent site wide change until they’re certain that it’ll result in more sales.

Now have re-posted the Feed availability if users wish to opt in on the US Announcement board, along a microsite “” telling what the Feed is about and how to set up your own Feed.

Currently the Feed is still an opt-in process, but we’re still hopeful that soon it will become the default eBay home page and also roll out to the UK. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear any more news.

What do you think of the eBay Feed, have you been using it on the site, would you use it on eBay UK if it became available, or are you like many sellers and rarely visit the eBay home page anyway?

I still want to know what happened to the ‘fast n free’ logo on eBay UK?

    Never seen it used.

      Me too! 🙂

It was announced with such big noise and I actually liked the idea, the icon & concept but never seen it being implemented live on eBay!

      Its Back!

I rang CS a couple of weeks ago about this because we adjusted our whole P+P policy based on this (plus a few other factors). Apparently it was purely on trial when it first appeared and is now back permanently. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen.

I rang CS a couple of weeks ago and they said the initial appearance pre-xmas was a trial and that it was due back at the start of Feb.

The van was on our listings all last week and I assumed back for good but it appears the van has disappeared again lol.

Absolute joke if it never comes back again. Was actually a good idea too. looked really nice.
