New website launches

The Cabinet Office has launched a new website that brings together all the online content of HM Government. Called, the idea is that having one central portal for everything the government offers will not just be more accessible but also save cash. For instance, all the previous information on the Business Link website (which was quite a handy site) is now incorporated at

The site moved out of beta last week and is now fully live. It looks fairly nice, very functional and I decided to give it a few Tamebay flavoured test runs.

A search for “distance selling” came up straight away with this rather good page about the distance selling regulations which is both clear and easy to digest.

Trying to find out whether I need to pay tax on online sales, however was less successful and I ended up in a bit of a loop in the Money and tax section. A search for eBay, interestingly returns null results.

What do you reckon? Useful facility or white elephant?
