eBay.com loses PaymateUSA payment option

By Chris Dawson July 26, 2012 - 10:50 pm

In a couple of days time eBay.com sellers will have one less payment option available to offer their buyers. From the 31st July PaymateUSA will cease offering payment processing services to all customers. That’s a big deal for eBay.com sellers who wish to offer their customers a payments choice. they’ll now be limited to and payment upon pickup.

I should note that this only affects PaymateUSA, they sold the Australian, New Zealand and Asian side of their business to FlexiGroup last December and they continue to offer payment services and trade as Paymate (as opposed to “PaymateUSA”).

Greg Quinn, Paymate’s Executive Vice President of Sales and Client Services, told us that PaymentUSA will continue to develop their mobile commerce solutions, which grew from their acquisition of ACT Merchant Services. This added Mobile Payment Services to allow merchants to accept payment via smart phones and other mobile devices. PaymateUSA will be launching a new website reflecting their new products and services early next month.

If you’re currently accepting payments via Paymate you’ll need to look at alternative methods but that’s now limited to credit cards though ProPay or your own merchant account, Skrill, or of course PayPal.
